Landing of Lafayette Historical Blue Staffordshire Footed Compote Clews ZAM-174
Historical blue Staffordshire featuring the Landing of General Lafayette at Castle Garden in New York on August 16, 1824 on a footed compote of fruit bowl shaped form. Compote was made by James and Ralph Clews circa 1825 and features 2 three masted ships with flags at the left of Castle Garden are the "Robert Fulton and Chancellor Livingston." 6 cannons on the shore in the foreground are firing in salute. There are repairs to and bowl and it measures 9 1/2" by 9 1/2".
