Historical Polychrome Transfer Pitcher With Landing Of Lafayette At Castle Gardens New York KO
Historical polychrome transfer pitcher with a view of the Landing of Lafayette At Castle Gardens. Made by Jersey City Pottery Company New Jersey circa 1840’s. These pitchers are extremely rare and hardly ever come on the market. There are a few other forms that we know of such as a punch bowl and basin. In 40 years we have had the pleasure of handling just a couple of these and this particular one for the second time. Very impressive polychrome multi color transfer scene with eagles and shields around the top rim with gilt accents. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Shows some minor staining but nothing too bad. It measures 10” from the tip of the spout to the handle by 8 3/4” tall. The only few others we can track down have been in collections and museums for a number of years. The opportunity to own a real piece of New York History.
