Original Declaration of Independence Broadside By Woodruff Published by Phelps & Ensigns 1840’s
Beautiful colored engraving of the Declaration of Independence by William Woodruff and published by Phelps & Ensign, New York. Dates circa 1840’s. Shows portraits of Washington, Jefferson and Adams and the seals of the 13 colonies in an oak wreath with eagle on top with the text and signatures of the Declaration. We have only been able to locate a few of these that are in black and white. We believe this is quite scarce in color. The sheet measures 21 1/2” by 28 1/2” through the mat window. The frame measures 35 1/4” by 43 1/4”. Shows a few professionally restored tears but nothing too drastic. Beautifully framed and matted ready to display.
